Wind Turbine Technology:
Nacelle, Electric Hub, and Turbine Generator Control Troubleshooting

Instructor's Course Overview:  This course is for college, industry, and university level instructors who teach basic skills in wind turbine technology and wish to develop skills in overall wind turbine operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. The course builds on the a solid knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems to develop hands-on familiarization with Amatrol's wind turbine technology training systems: 950-TNC1 Turbine Nacelle Troubleshooting, 950-TEH1 Turbine Electric Hub Troubleshooting, and 950-TGC1 Turbine Generator Control Troubleshooting.

Amatrol's Turbine Nacelle Troubleshooting Learning System

Instructors with a good understanding of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems in general who have a desire to become familiar with Amatrol's curriculum for wind turbine technology will benefit the most from this course. Students will study basic principles of wind turbine systems. The course emphasizes both component and system level safety, operation, adjustment, troubleshooting, and maintenance. Specific topics will include the yaw drive, rotor lock, turbine control unit, turbine hydraulics, safety loop, parking and yaw brakes, twist box, turbine control, metrological instrumentation, individual blade troubleshooting, hub power, pitch control, servo pitch operation, servo reference position adjustment, emergency feather control, batteries, power voltage verification, generator system control and communications, turbine power-on and power-off, commissioning tests and data collection. Attendees will learn through a combination of individualized, hands-on learning with mechanical trainers and group instruction of concepts and principles.

Pre-Requisites:   Good understanding of basic mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. Amatrol recommends Mechanical Drives 1 and 2 and Fluid Power Basics or the equivalents as preparation for this course.
Course Length: 36 Hours
Daily Schedule: Mon. thru Thurs. 8:00 am to 4:30 pm; Fri 8:00am to 12:00 pm
Course Tuition: $1,995 (if not included with equipment purchase)
Administrative Fee: $125 (includes hotel-to-plant shuttle, lunch, course materials) The administrative fee is required for all class registrations.
