High schools are challenged to ignite a passion for achievement by engaging all students as individuals, creating programs that are flexible enough to serve all career paths regardless of their destination. Whether they’re heading on to an engineering degree program or to the production line of a local manufacturer, the Certified Production Technician program enables students to build a foundation upon which they can succeed.

The Certified Production Technician Program by MSSC is an industry-led standards-based training, assessment and certification system focused on the core skills and knowledge needed by the nation’s advanced manufacturing workforce. The foundational areas of certification include safety, quality, manufacturing processes, and maintenance

High school students achieving the CPT certification will have a distinct academic advantage over other college bound students. Those students interested in pursuing engineering, manufacturing, energy, science and a host of other career paths must be able to demonstrate their technical knowledge.

CPT develops strong STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) skills as a natural part of learning technical skills. Students also learn essential academic skills, such as, writing, listening, problem solving, decision making and analyzing information. Today, many schools have established college articulation for the program for up to six credit hours.
