Twinstar Pneumatic Robot System – 830-PR2-C4

Request Information

The Twinstar Pneumatic Robot System teaches non-servo robotics and their industrial applications. The Twinstar’s industrial features, such as high repeatability and PLC control, make it an ideal teaching system because students can program it to perform real world tasks. The Twinstar’s technology is also representative of many other automated machines, so students learn skills they can apply to a wide range of automation applications.

The Twinstar System includes a non-servo robot arm, 2-point gripper, cable set, student materials for theory and lab, and instructor’s guide. The robot arm is a cylindrical type with 4 axes (not including a gripper) and electro-pneumatic actuators. The robot arm requires a PLC controller, which is available as an option. Workcell accessory options are also available to fully support the skills taught in the student learning materials.

The Twinstar features the following capabilities:

High Repeatability – The Twinstar has high repeatability because it uses heavy-duty precision linear bearings on each axis. These bearings firmly support the axis even under varying load conditions.

PLC Control Options – The Twinstar is compatible with a number of industrial programmable controller systems available from Amatrol and some PLC controllers supplied by users. The PLC is the most common control method used with non-servo robots.

Axis End-of-Travel Sensors – All four of the Twinstar’s axes have limit sensors at their ends-of-travel. The PLC control uses these sensors to determine when the current sequence step has been completed and the next step should be initiated. This feature enables the Twinstar to accurately sequence its motion rather than depend on timing.

Industrial Payload Capability – The Twinstar’s precision bearings accurately carry an industrial size payload of up to 1 Kg, giving the robot the ability to do real tasks and show students the effect of load changes on a robot’s operation.
