Electric Machines Learning System – 85-MT2

Request Information

The model 85-MT2 Electric Machines Learning System teaches electric machines commonly found in industrial, commercial, and residential applications including: single phase AC motors, three-phase AC electric motors, DC electric motors, and DC generators. Students will learn industry-relevant skills including how to operate, install, analyze performance, and select electric machines for various applications.

The 85-MT2 includes a number of industrial machines, integrated base unit, photo-tachometer, lead set, prony brake, clamp-on ammeter, student learning materials for both theory and lab, and teacher’s guide. This system uses industrial quality components to help students become better prepared for what they will encounter on the job and to withstand frequent student use.

The integrated base unit’s steel construction provides a sturdy work surface for mounting electric machines. It can mount single machines and a prony brake for individual performance tests or two coupled machines to demonstrate generator operation. A built-in digital multimeter with 11-position switch allows students to read current and voltage one to three legs of power without disconnecting leads. Safety devices include ground fault interrupter and keyed emergency stop pushbutton. Built-in variable AC and DC power supplies enable students to study the operation of AC and DC machines under a variety of conditions.

The electrical machines supplied with this system are off-the-shelf 1/3 Hp units and use industrial standard wiring terminology so that students learn how to connect electric machines in the same manner they would on the job. By using industrial standard machines students also learn how to install and align real world machines

Additional electrical machines are also available to extend the learning capabilities of the 85-MT2 System.
