PLC Robot Control System – 880-AB501

Request Information

The model 880-AB501 PLC Robot Control System adds to the 830-PR2-C4 Twinstar Pneumatic Robot System to provide PLC control of a pneumatic robot. The 880-AB501 System is also a PLC learning system that teaches Allen-Bradley SLC5/01 programmable logic controllers used in industrial, commercial, and residential applications. Students learn industry-relevant skills including how to program, operate, install, and interface SLC5/01 programmable controllers in various applications including pneumatic non-servo robots.

The model 880-AB501 includes a vertical console that mounts to Amatrol’s 88-200 Flexible Workstation, Allen-Bradley SLC500 5/01 programmable controller with (16) 24VDC discrete inputs and (16) 24VDC discrete outputs, I/O simulator unit, 24VDC power supply, external I/O interface unit, PLC programming software, PC to PLC interface, student learning materials for both theory and lab, and teacher’s guide.

The programming software included is the 82-704 Micrologix 1000/ SLC 500 PLC Software and Interface. It includes Rockwell’s RSLogix software for programming Allen Bradley’s Micrologix 1000 and SLC 500 families of programmable controllers. The RSLogix software enables users to develop ladder logic programs on a PC, transfer them to and from a PLC, and monitor PLC operations. The software requires a PC with Windows 98 or higher operating system. A one-station license is included. The interface included is a PC-PLC programming interface and cable.

The workstation’s design enables students to extend their learning beyond simulation with an External Interface Unit, which provides plug-in connections to real world applications. The External Interface Unit features built-in terminal strips with the ability to connect to I/O via individual lead jacks or groups of I/O via a mating plug-in terminal strip. The 880-AB501′s console mounts below the work surface of the 88-200 Workstation and connects to the Twinstar via plug-in cables from the External Interface Unit. This unique feature enables students to easily connect other devices such as the Twinstar robot.
