Fluid Learning System 2 – 94-FLS-2
Centrifugal pumps and piping networks are widely used throughout industry to transport non-hydraulic liquids of various types from one place to another. Applications include coolant, lubrication, refrigeration, steam, cleaning, and water management. The 94-FLS-2 Fluid Systems 2 learning system teaches how to design, select, operate, and install centrifugal pumps and liquid piping networks as used by modern industry. Many additional pumps are also available to extend the learning capabilities of the system. These include: turbine, diaphragm, gear, piston, peristaltic, magnetic and vane.
The 94-FLS-2 includes a heavy-duty mobile workstation with piping network and variable speed electric motor drive to operate a centrifugal pump under a variety of real world conditions. The system instrumentation measures speed, torque, pressure, and flow, enabling a complete study of pump performance characteristics. The 94-FLS-2 also includes a computer-based data acquisition system that measures the pressure drop across the various sections of the piping network.
The Fluid System 2 Unit recreates a wide variety of the real world conditions under which pumps typically operate using devices including a load valve, air ingestion valve, cavitation valve, and variable speed motor. The 94-FLS-2 measures performance using a complete set of provided measurement instruments that enable students to learn how pumps perform under various load conditions. These instruments include inlet and outlet pressure gauges, a digital flow meter, motor speed readout, and torque readout.
The 94-FLS-2 System includes a multi-pass fluid piping network and data acquisition system so students can verify the pressure losses caused by pipe friction. The piping network includes pipe sections of different diameters to allow study of the effects of pipe size on pressure loss. A U-Tube manometer and data acquisition system teach the principles of operation.
Amatrol’s 94-FLS-2 workstation and piping design allow for flexible pump mounting that allows students to mount many other types of pumps in addition to the centrifugal pump supplied with the base unit. This capability is provided through a universal pump mounting unit and flexible piping connections. Students can also mount a second pump to the workstation and test the operation of series (multi stage) and parallel pump operation. Add-on packages are available to add these pumps.
