Structural Engineering 1 Learning System – 96-SE1
Amatrol’s 96-SE1 Structural Engineering 1 Learning System introduces students to the field of civil engineering. Civil engineers are responsible for creating structures such as skyscrapers, bridges, tunnels, dams, mass transit systems, water treatment facilities and many more structures we use every day for living, transportation and industry. Students will also learn the fundamentals of structural analysis and bridge design and construction.
The Structural Engineering 1 Learning System includes: the T9004 structural testing system with workstation, bridge component sets, test fixture set, indicator package, bridge video, bridge designer software, supplemental CD, student curriculum for both theory and lab, interactive CD-ROM curriculum, and teacher’s assessment guide. The curriculum covers topics such as civil engineering careers, structural stability, force vectors, bridge materials and construction, and bridge design and research.
Interactive Multimedia- Amatrol’s Structural Engineering 1 Learning System includes interactive multimedia curriculum in CD-ROM format. The multimedia teaches the same topics that are covered in the written student curriculum including: civil engineering careers, structural elements and stability, force vectors, bridge materials and construction, truss bridges, and bridge design and research. It is the perfect instructional tool for today’s classroom with an exciting presentation and high quality learning content. Each topic’s presentation includes extensive videos, 3D animations, interactive exercises, and colorful graphics that will motivate students and help them learn more effectively.
The multimedia software content mirrors the print-based Learning Activity Packets (LAPs). Amatrol multimedia software is skills-based and provides a complete learning experience for the student with theory presentation and hands-on exercises.
Modular Structural Members- The 96-SE1 features modular building elements that can be connected together to form different bridge and building designs. Students will construct classic bridge designs such as the Warren, Pratt, and Howe truss bridges and one to four-story building structures. The T9004 test unit features a heavy-duty frame and a powerful hydraulic loading system to test metal structures under realistic conditions. A flexible mounting frame design enables different types of structures to be easily mounted for testing.
Structural Design Software- Students will use the bridge design software to explore the characteristics of other bridge designs beyond the many that can be constructed on the T9004 system. The software offers many student-configured design parameters including member length, cross section size, material, and bridge type. It even calculates the cost of the bridge designs, creating an ideal format for student competitions.
