Analytical Process Control Learning System – T5554
Amatrol’s T5554 Analytical Process Control Learning System teaches students how to use analytical control concepts in industrial situations. This is one of a complete line of process control trainers that teach process control across the common variables of level, flow, temperature, and pH. Process control is critical to a broad array of industries including chemical, power, pharmaceutical, water purification, food processing and many others. Students will learn industry-relevant skills including how to perform a hazard analysis, control flows through metering and injector pumps; test pH; measure the output of a combination electrode with a multimeter; program and calibrate a pH meter; operate a loop controller; configure and operate controllers for discrete pH control, closed-loop pH control; establish alarms for managing a process; mix solutions in both batches and continuous control; control a pH process with proportional-integral control as well as proportional-integral-derivative control; control loop performance.
The T5554 includes a table top workstation with a control panel, PLC interface, metering and injector pumps, a continuous stirred tank reactor (CSTR), pH transmitter and probe, reagent tanks, a piping by-pass network, student learning materials for both theory and lab, and teacher’s assessment guide. Students will create real process loops that will prepare them for industrial process applications.
Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor (CSTR) – CSTR capability is commonly found in industrial applications. The T5554 teaches students how to use this to maintain mixed solutions without unwanted concentrations. Upper and lower control limits prevent overflow or dry pump failures. The pH probe is easily mounted for tank measurements.
pH Transmitter and Probe – The T5554 is equipped with a Dura-FET, solid state pH probe sensor and removable transmitter with LCD display. This allows placement in feed-forward or feed-back locations, including the in-tank feed-back. This technology is commonly found in industry, where control panels are frequently distant from the sensors to be calibrated. An optional second set of the probe and transmitter is available (T5554-A1).
Piping By-Pass Network – Industry frequently requires a change of sensors without stopping liquid flow. The T5554 teaches students to handle this situation.
Injector and Metering Pumps – The metering pump injects acid or base into the reactor to neutralize it to the desired pH level. It can be operated manually or with a PID controller. The injector pump is used to maintain a constant level of acid or base in the reactor tank. The pump compensates for changes in flow to maintain a steady pH value in the incoming line to the reactor tank. Both of these pumps are widely used in industry.
Option: Advanced Analytical Control Module (T5554-A2) – The T5554-A2 Advanced Analytical Control Module adds to the T5554 to enable integration with the T5553 Temperature Process Control Learning System and the T5552 Level/Flow Process Control Learning System for very sophisticated process control loops. It includes an electrical proportional valve, paddle-wheel flow meter assembly and flow transmitter panel. The T5554 also has options for PID control, either a single loop (T5554-C1) or dual loop (T5554-C2). It also offers data acquisition options with either 2-channel (T5554-R1) or 4-channel (T5554-R2).
